Welcome to a brand-new school year at THE Thurgood Marshall Elementary School! Whether you are returning to us from last year at Bradley Elementary or joining our school community for the first time, we are thrilled to welcome you to our TMES family.
This year, our school-wide theme is “On the Map to SUCCESS: A Journey to Student Growth.” At Thurgood Marshall we believe that every child’s journey is unique and every step they take matters. We are committed to helping our students reach new heights academically, socially and emotionally by fostering a nurturing environment where curiosity is encouraged, effort is celebrated and growth is the “ultimate destination”.
Throughout the year, we will focus on positive behavior, academic excellence and strong character. We will use the theme of a journey to help our students set goals, reflect on progress and celebrate milestones. From classroom instruction to special events and hallway displays, everything we do will be rooted in guiding our students along their “personal road map to success”.
Our dedicated team of educators is ready to “hit the road” with your child. We are focused on high-quality instruction, differentiated support and creating a school culture that reflects excellence, equity and empathy. We believe in strong partnerships with families and look forward to working alongside you every step of the way. We kindly ask that you support your child’s education by ensuring that he/she:
- Attends school each day and arrives on time
- Participates in extracurricular activities and school events
- Completes all assignments given by classroom teachers
- Knows that we - the school and home - are partners in their learning experience
- Informs you of any additional support that is needed in a learning area or subject
